Up until now, Sha Stimuli was GetYourMindRIght's only CO-SIGN. How fitting that Sha is one of the few features on the latest release from our second GYMR CO-SIGN ever: Wordsmith.

Like Sha Stimuli, Wordsmith is as 'real' a person as he is an emcee, and that goes a long way on the Internets these days, where anyone can claim him/herself an artist, and filtering through the garbage has become a 25/8 job.

Unlike so many emcees who fall back on touting their neighborhood, Wordsmith offers a unique, post-modern World View rarely seen in the hip hop game. Before making the College Top 30 Charts and getting spins on MTV, VH1, Spike, Fuse, etc., Wordsmith had already lived in Germany -- twice. Unlike most emcees who tour this country on 'upnorth trips', Wordsmith lived in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Georgia, Delaware, Texas and Kansas as the son of an Army Colonel.

Now based in the DMV/Baltimore, Wordsmith's range of experiences -- and intelligence -- shine through in his music. Capable of creating a club hit (and he has) but not constrained by those creative boundaries, Wordsmith switches lanes gracefully but powerfully, offering something for everyone.

As he told GYMR: "I hands-down know why my brand of hip hop is so all-over-the-place sometimes, because I was influenced by so many forms of music growing up. I also think that's why I have a universal mentality when it comes to creating my music."

If you're at all familiar with GetYourMindRight, you know we are not like most hip hop blogs.

• We do not publish every day (hint: subscribing won't bite you in the ass).
• Not only do we NOT post trash and apologize for it (don't take it personal), we actually reject 99.9% of the music submitted to us for posting.

And that's NOT because we are elitist -- it's just that we (1) are very busy; (2) take this very personally; and (3) feature a lot more here than traditional 'hip hop' fare.

Born in Nigeria, Nneka relocated some 10,000 miles to Hamburg, Germany, at 19, to pursue a career in singing alongside a degree in Anthropology. Today, she has a critically acclaimed album, a song on the official 2010 FIFA World Cup album and this powerful collaboration with Nas. We should all salute artists like beautiful Nneka, now 28, whose passion, strength and vocal range shine on this remix.

So, AWKWORD's uncle has known Ron Artest for more than a decade. Dude can play ball. No disputing that. Dude's nuts -- and often dangerous. Unfortunately, no disputing that either. But dude can also spit. I doubted it until I heard this... So I wasn't so surprised when I heard the new one, released June 19, 2010, two days after Artest scored 20 points in his team's NBA Championship game 7 win.

After over a year of trying to work with Mighty Mi to take T.H.E. High Exhaulted off of iTunes and getting no where, Copywrite has finally erupted. Copywrite had approached Milo over a year ago about wanting to re-release his debut album since there was never a formal contract between the two he felt there would be no issue. Milo however felt differently and would not give Copywrite permission to include a couple of the tracks that Milo had done production for on the re-release. Copywrite accepted that but insisted that T.H.E High Exhaulted be taken down off of iTunes and anywhere else Milo might have it for sale. A year later Milo still has not done this. “Poorly Promote This” was born out of Copywrite’s frustration with how Milo and Eon handled the promotion of his first record and the recent chatter that has been heard about him re-releasing his classic debut.
